Lewis H. Titterton Jr., Chairman of the Board
Mr. Titterton has served as one of our Directors since August 16, 2010, and the Chairman of the Board since July 20, 2012. Mr. Titterton is currently Chairman of the Board of NYMED, Inc., a diversified health services company. His background is in high technology with an emphasis on health care and he has been with NYMED, Inc. since 1989. Mr. Titterton founded MedE America, Inc. in 1986 and was Chief Executive Officer of Management and Planning Services, Inc. from 1978 to 1986. Mr. Titterton has been involved with the Company as a director or investor for over eighteen years. Mr. Titterton also has substantial experience with advising on the strategic development of technology companies and over thirty-nine years of experience in various aspects of the technology industry. He holds a M.B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany, and a B.A. degree from Cornell University.
Robert Berman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Director
Mr. Berman has experience in a broad variety of areas including finance, acquisitions, marketing, and the development, licensing, and monetization of intellectual property. He was recently the CEO of IP Dispute Resolution Corporation, a consulting company focused on patent monetization. Prior to IPDR, Mr. Berman was the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Acacia Research Corporation. Mr. Berman has been quoted in numerous articles on patent monetization and is a frequent speaker on patent licensing and enforcement including programs at Harvard Law School, and UCLA’s Anderson School of Business. Mr. Berman received a B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and a J. D. from Northwestern Law School.
Henry Herms, Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance, Director
Mr. Herms has served as our Chief Financial Officer and Vice President – Finance since 2000 and as our Chief Financial Officer from 1982 to 1987. Mr. Herms has over 35 years of experience as a financial manager in both public and private companies and over 7 years experience as a manager and CPA at a major public accounting firm. His background in public accounting and at public companies gives him extensive knowledge of Securities and Exchange Commission matters including quarterly and annual reports and registration statements. He holds a B.B.A. degree from Adelphi University.
Amit Kumar, Ph.D, Strategic Advisor, Director
Dr. Kumar has been an investor, founder, Director and CEO of several technology enterprises, both public and private. As CEO, he took CombiMatrix Corporation public and ran it for a decade while listed on the NASDAQ Global Market. He has worked in venture capital with OAK Investment Partners, and has been an advisor to investment funds, venture capital firms, and Fortune 500 companies. He was on the Board of Directors of Acacia Research Corporation from 2002-2008. Dr. Kumar is currently CEO of Geo Fossil Fuels, an energy company, and he sits on the Board of other public and private companies. He received his AB in Chemistry from Occidental College. After graduate studies at Stanford University and Caltech, he received his Ph.D. from Caltech and followed that with a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard.
Bruce Johnson, Director
Mr. Johnson is and has been a commodity trader on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for over 40 years. He has served as a member of the CME Group Inc. board of directors since 1998. He had previously served as President, Director and part-owner of Packers Trading Company, a former futures commissions merchant/clearing firm at the CME from 1969 to 2003. In addition to Mr. Johnson’s exposure to the futures and capital markets, he has been an active investor for many decades in the agricultural and bio-waste industries. He also serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Crime Commission. Mr. Johnson received his Bachelors of Science in Marketing from Bradley University in 1965 and a Juris Doctorate in Law from John Marshall Law School in 1969.
Kent Williams, Director
Mr. Williams is the managing member of Vista Asset Management LLC, an Investment advisory firm, providing wealth management, strategic capital, and business advisory introductions. He has more than 40 years’ experience in the capital markets, including positions with U.S. Trust, Wood Island Associates and Merrill Lynch. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco and received his MBA from St Mary’s College of California and a BA from the University of California at Berkeley. Kent has helped start up several firms from inception with seed and growth capital through their growth which in several cases ended up with acquisitions by larger firms in their industry.
